You deserve a judge who is just, fair, and approachable. A good judge is well prepared, listens attentively, treats everyone in the courtroom with respect, and makes tough decisions promptly.  I am confident I have the skills and personality to fulfill that responsibility.

Like anything worth doing, being a good judge is a skill which takes practice and hard work. I will dedicate myself to being the best judge I can for our county.

The Plumas County Superior Court has made recent steps toward modernization, including a significant website update, but there is much more to be done. A new courthouse and electronic court filing are on the horizon, and I will bring careful consideration and energy to implementing both of those changes.

I attended Westminster College in my hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business, graduating with summa cum laude honors. I ran on the cross country team and was the captain of the school’s first women’s soccer team.

After college, I worked a variety of jobs before law school. I briefly worked in finance, earning a Series 7 license. I lived in Matsumoto, Japan, where I taught English to middle school students for a year. I worked as a finish carpenter for my father, who is a general contractor, and as a project manager for a small marketing firm. I waited tables, was the head baker at a coffee shop, and coached junior ski racers on the Sugar Bowl Ski Team.

I attended the University of California Hastings College of the Law, in San Francisco, graduating with cum laude honors. During law school, I worked for judges in both the unified family court and probate divisions of the San Francisco Superior Court.

After earning my law degree, I practiced family law for more than a decade, litigating domestic violence restraining orders, high-conflict custody cases, and complex financial matters. I was named a rising star by Super Lawyers Magazine for seven consecutive years and am a certified family law specialist by the State Bar of California.

I am now a Deputy District Attorney in the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office Consumer Fraud and Environmental Protection Unit.

I have appeared in court in Plumas, Alameda, San Francisco, Marin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, Sacramento, and Yolo counties.

I currently volunteer with the Plumas County Superior Court as a Judge Pro Tem handling traffic, small claims, and unlawful detainer cases. I am the president of the Plumas County Bar Association and volunteer as both a coach and the president of the board for the Lost Sierra Composite Mountain Bike Team.

I live with my husband and our energetic border collie in Quincy.

As a former colleague of Madeline’s and a 20+ year litigator, I can say with complete confidence that Madeline possesses all the qualities a competent judge should have: she ensures fairness and equity; is intelligent, yet unpretentious; kind and respectful to all. I fully and proudly endorse Madeline for this esteemed role.”

Madeline Warren’s integrity is visible in everything she does. My relationship with Madeline started as her employer; it continues as her friend. I’ve seen her work ethic and judgment as an attorney. She is genuine, smart, deliberate, and just. She’s the person who would go out of her way to return a lost wallet and the person who would help you when you’re in a jam without a second thought. Plumas county – or any county – would be fortunate to have her thoughtful, independent judgment on the bench.”

As a former Director of Plumas County’s Department of Social Services, I have unique and up close perspectives regarding what our Courts need at the judicial level. My view is that we need experience, integrity, knowledge of the law and of legal processes and procedure. We also need someone who possesses a reasoned temperament and who counts themselves as “one of us”. Madeline Warren checks all of my boxes and for that reason and without reservation, I am happy to fully endorse her candidacy for Plumas County Superior Court Judge.”

I couldn’t recommend Madeline Warren more highly for Superior Court Judge. She is not only extremely smart, hard working, and experienced, but she is also incredibly thoughtful and deeply cares about being fair and evenhanded in her life and work. I have been a trial attorney for nearly twenty years working in both state and federal courts around California. I have appeared in front of scores of judges for all sorts of hearings and trials. I have also evaluated and served as a reference for judicial applicants seeking appointment, many of whom became judges. In my experience, the most important quality in a judge is his or her character, and the ability and willingness to be truly fair to each person who appears in court. Madeline is particularly well suited for a judgeship because she has the moral compass and even temperament necessary for the job.”

I am honored to endorse Madeline Warren for Superior Court Judge of Plumas County. After meeting her in person and reviewing the Plumas Sun candidate profiles, I am confident she is the right fit. Her record details her high achievements and motivation; she has consistently received honors for excellence. Madeline Warren has all the qualities and experience to make a superior Superior Court Judge.”

Judicial decisions change lives forever. Plumas County deserves a judge who works hard to get those decisions right and who views the bench as a solemn duty. I know Madeline Warren, and I know she will put in the work to assure that every ruling is just, fair, and thoroughly considered. I support her without reservation.”

As a local attorney working in child protection cases I, without hesitation, know Madeline Warren is the best candidate for Plumas County Superior Court Judge. Often the families involved in child protection are facing incredible hardship and Madeline Warren possesses the intellect, patience and genuine kindness to handle these cases with care. Plumas County deserves a Judge like Madeline, who has demonstrated her dedication to public service.”
