Hello, my name is Madeline Warren and I’m running for Superior Court Judge here in Plumas County. Your next judge should be hardworking, honest, and dedicated to this extraordinary community we call home.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

You deserve a judge who is just, fair, and approachable. A good judge is well prepared, listens attentively, treats everyone in the courtroom with respect, and makes tough decisions promptly.  I am confident I have the skills and personality to fulfill that responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like anything worth doing, being a good judge is a skill which takes practice and hard work. I will dedicate myself to being the best judge I can for our county. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Plumas County Superior Court has made recent steps toward modernization, including a significant website update, but there is much more to be done. A new courthouse and electronic court filing are on the horizon, and I will bring careful consideration and energy to implementing both of those changes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Background<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

I attended Westminster College in my hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business, graduating with summa cum laude honors. I ran on the cross country team and was the captain of the school’s first women’s soccer team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After college, I worked a variety of jobs before law school. I briefly worked in finance, earning a Series 7 license. I lived in Matsumoto, Japan, where I taught English to middle school students for a year. I worked as a finish carpenter for my father, who is a general contractor, and as a project manager for a small marketing firm. I waited tables, was the head baker at a coffee shop, and coached junior ski racers on the Sugar Bowl Ski Team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Legal Experience<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

I attended the University of California Hastings College of the Law, in San Francisco, graduating with cum laude honors. During law school, I worked for judges in both the unified family court and probate divisions of the San Francisco Superior Court. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After earning my law degree, I practiced family law for more than a decade, litigating domestic violence restraining orders, high-conflict custody cases, and complex financial matters. I was named a rising star by Super Lawyers Magazine <\/em>for seven consecutive years and am a certified family law specialist by the State Bar of California. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am now a Deputy District Attorney in the Yolo County District Attorney\u2019s Office Consumer Fraud and Environmental Protection Unit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have appeared in court in Plumas, Alameda, San Francisco, Marin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, Sacramento, and Yolo counties. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Current Volunteer Experience<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

I currently volunteer with the Plumas County Superior Court as a Judge Pro Tem handling traffic, small claims, and unlawful detainer cases. I am the president of the Plumas County Bar Association and volunteer as both a coach and the president of the board for the Lost Sierra Composite Mountain Bike Team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I live with my husband and our energetic border collie in Quincy.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
